how i tried to join a FF league

Last night Jim went to work, but left his fantasy football page logged in on my computer. All season I've been watching the games. I almost hate to say it (except I really don't at all) that I've found out that I actually like football. I know. Judge me. Say what you want. I don't give a shit. But what I like more than football is the concept of FANTASY FOOTBALL. This makes the game about a thousand times cooler. And I want to be a part of it. I've been doing my research and learning everything I can, with the hopes that next year I can join a league.

Last night was probably my one and only opportunity for a chance to get in Jim's league. I need to be voted in to this all boys club. So I wrote a letter...under Jims name on the message board.

Here it is...

A message from Jim’s girlfriend-

Yeah I know you're surprised he even has one. I wake up every morning thinking WHAT THE FUCK!
First off let me start off by addressing Jim. You are an idiot for leaving this up on my computer. I looked through your message board. So you got your dick wet in New Jersey? That’s news to me. You think you’d impress all your friends by acting like you get laid. What a joke. You’re lucky I didn’t go ahead and change your lineup.  Let it be known I’m still considering it.

If you guys think you want to see Jim lose, imagine how much I’d like to see him lose. I’m sure you’d all like to see Joe Howe lose too. And he should. Someone that drops a keeper like Demarco Murray on “accident” deserves to lose. I can also imagine it must suck pretty bad to have some dudes in your league that don’t even try (Lam and Ron).  It’s no wonder Lam won’t agree to a better payout.  There are only two things that seem fun about this fantasy thing and that’s talking shit and potentially winning money.

Let me get down to business. I want in this league next year. I’d vote for a bigger payout.  And if you want some real shit on Jim, I willing to give that up. Plus, if you let a girl in this league it may just be the closest you get to being straight while playing fantasy football in years.

What I don’t possess in football knowledge, I make up for in the one thing I’m assuming the majority of you haven’t seen since you were born, a vagina. Vote me in the league.

Sincerely, Cat

And now I wait...for the vote.
Wish me luck.

nov. rundown

I've been doing a horrible job. Let me give you a run down of November.

I started November by hitting the road for a few days to go on tour with Jim and Phantogram. I joined them for San Francisco, Santa Barbara and LA.

I stopped by Marc Jacobs for some Sharpies for work.
Charles accidentally ate a pot cookie. He was terribly high for twenty four hours. It was horrible.
After getting back from tour I started packing and slowly moving things, in addition to painting my kitchen cabinets, assisting jackie in building a fence, and completing odds and ends.

I held the last dinner night at the queen anne house. In honor of the holidays and the house history we did thanksgiving dinner, which was also the first dinner I ever cooked in that house a year prior.

Meg came home for a visit from Belfast.
Nic Sciackitano came up from SF for her visit too.
My baby finally came home from five weeks on tour. I surprised him by bringing him home to a brand new moved in and set up apartment.

This is my new kitchen. I'll be putting up more photos of the apartment soon.

We finally got a Costco membership and we've been cooking a lot in our new apt. I made Korean BBQ the other night. And a blackberry clafloutis for Thanksgiving dinner.
Instead of doing a traditional turkey dinner, Jackie made a crab feast for her family. I provided moral support by being there for the death of her little babies. I also tasted the dinner later that even. AMAZING.

A good portion of November was rough. I missed Jim terribly. But I kept busy. November ended well.

I'm thrilled for December.

I think perhaps it's time to start a new blog and lay this one to rest.
What do you think?
I enjoyed watching this today.

do no wrong

So happy I finally bought Future Islands new album, On the Water.

And loving the track that Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak) sings on, The Great Fire.

If you haven't listened to Wye Oak yet you should also do that.

18 October 2011

it's official

Jim and I are moving...to Edmonds.

Although I have a slight distaste towards moving back to the north end, I must admit that I am truly excited.

We can't wait to have our own home, and I can't wait to decorate. Jim only owns a garbage bag full of clothes, but I'm getting rid of all furniture I currently own and we're starting from scratch. I've been looking at a million websites and sending Jim emails of all the things I want while he's away on tour. Once he comes home late next month we'll begin buying. It will surely be a work in progress. The place is currently in the process of getting a few fresh coats of paint and new hardwood floors throughout. I'll be posting photos as soon as I can.

Parking will be a breeze. Charles will have a backyard and our location is great for taking walks. And I won't have to commute to work anymore. OH MY GOD! The thought of not sitting in traffic makes me giddy. Grocery stores are close and I can walk to the gym or a mini mart. On top of all these great pros, it's also a chance for me to save some money so that I can buy a home in the next two years.

I've loved living in the city and I will miss it, but there is a huge part of me that can't wait for the suburbs and to live with the person I love...and Charles.

New York was great. I could have used a few more days to see the sights. The weather was great for the most part. Hanging out with Jenna was awesome. We ate lots of good food and walked most of the neighborhoods we wanted to. We dedicated more than two days to shopping. I came home with an amazing pair of Rachel Comey ankle boots (post soon to come). We got to see Anika perform. She was amazing, and will probably never come to Seattle. I absolutely hated WhiteCastle. Yuck. The streets of NY are dirty and smelly. Vacation with Kimmy and Jackie was great. But of course I'm happy to be home.

Sunday

is the best day of the week.

Even during football season, this day of the week is still my favorite. I was so excited to wake up this morning, start our laundry, grab a coffee, run some errands, make some fresh guacamole and throw a beef stew in the crock pot. I even had a chance to catch up on some work junk. All the while my soundtrack being NFL red zone, of course. Today must have really been my lucky day(meaning the midday game would have no bearing on his fantasy football scores) because Jim took a break from watching the games and took me to a movie (Drive). Go see it. Now I get to spend the rest of the evening laying on the couch with my boys.

birchbox arrival #2

I'm going to be honest. This birchbox was a let down.

Incoco - Nail Polish Applique
Jouer - Lip Enhancer
Jurlique - Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer
Liv Grn - Natural Eau de Parfum
Birchbox Friendship Bracelet

The only exciting product for me in this box was the lip enhancer, because I've really been wanting/needing a product that hydrates and conditions my lips. If you wear lipstick it's so important that the lips be smooth and soft before application. I'm not thrilled at how oily it feels but I'm willing to apply it once or twice a day to check for results. The Nail Polish Applique could potentially be awesome had I not received the purple animal print (not my style). If the application is simple and looks clean I'll consider checking the website out. The parfum actually smells decent, but would not be a scent I would care to commit to. The hand sanitizer smells way to herbal. I do not like it. The friendship bracelet is stupid. Who would wear a cheap silver square attached to a pink string? This was seriously disappointing.

I'm really crossing my fingers for next month. Especially considering I talked one of my co-workers into signing up for the birchbox and this was the first box she received.

tweet tweet

I've decided to try twitter out again.
Follow me.

I can't complain

about my life.

Jim has cooked me dinner almost every night this week. Tacos with spanish rice. Spaghetti. Spicy grilled chicken. Last night he made a beef stir fry with a made from scratch teriyaki sauce that was delicious. We bottled it up so we'd have some on hand for next time. He's quite domestic and a great cook. I'm very lucky.

In reality I believe he had an ulterior motive. Football season has started which means I pretty much won't have a boyfriend for the next few months. In this past week I've been witness to him watching a game on tv and streaming a different game on his laptop. And that's not even the worst part. When we get in bed he listens to a sports podcast with headphones until he falls asleep.

No wonder he's cooking me dinner.
But that's okay because I've decided to make the most of it. I've been looking for lots of fun recipes for the perfect football snacks. So maybe it's a win win situation.

30 August 2011

My sister and her husband spent three weeks in Thailand for their honeymoon. They took a couple cooking classes while they were there. What a great idea. Lucky for us, they had Jim and I over for dinner.

Spring rolls. Salad. Curry. It was so tasty.
