good luck charms

Have I mentioned that I stopped taking all my meds over two weeks ago?
I've been eating whatever I want. I haven't been sick once.

ITS A MIRACLE. OR MAYBE JUST A BIT OF GOOD LUCK.

Maybe the cure was a little less stress and a little more happiness.

We're starting the fourth month of twenty eleven.
And it still keeps getting better.
It's nice to know I'm on the right track.

Don't Mess With Texas

I made it home alive (without a nervous breakdown) from my trip to Texas. I brought twenty xanax to get me through the trip and somehow by the grace of "something" I managed to make it without taking one, except for the plane ride home, but I'll come back to that. I wasn't excited for this trip. Who can be excited about a funeral and spending time with family that is slightly off, but I vowed to myself that I would make the most of it and I think my sister and I did a pretty good job.
First Class Upgrade Yo.
We didn't get a single minute to enjoy the weather. All I wanted was one hour by the pool, but we couldn't fit it in. I'm still as pale as ever. An all time record in fact.
I even attempted to catch up on my reading. No such luck.
We arrived in Austin, drove to college station (home of the aggies)and checked into our hotel.
My sister and I thought we'd be able to check into the hotel, get a little time to freshen up before we met our family, but little did we know the family was waiting in the cafe for us. A mix of faces old and new.
We got a great little Italian dinner that night, followed by a trip to the bar. We played some college bar trivia, had drinks and I enjoyed some interesting conversation with locals when I popped out for a ciggy. I tried a Colorado Bulldog for the first time. Coke, Vodka, and Kahlua. So delicious.
Now would also be a good time to tell you that I met an amazing family power. I'm a MAJOR fan of eastbound and down. You should know that. Little did I know that I have a Kenny Powers in my family. Fits the description to a T. His name is Ricky. He goes by Roach. Hanging out with this guy livened my trip up immensely. He cooked an amazing BBQ lunch. I am absolutely thrilled to have met him. I guess he's my great...I have no idea. I couldn't keep up.
Brisket, Sausage, Chicken, Potato Salad, Beans, Coleslaw, Bread, Pickles, Peppers, Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding, and Pecan Pie. I stuffed my face... So what!
I saw an uncle there that hadn't wore his suit since my moms funeral and still had the handout in this pocket. Weird.
Typical texas home decoration.
My grandparents vacant Saddleridge home.
On our final day there we got to finally see my grandma. She had recently been moved to assisted living, which I believe greatly played a part in the passing of my grandfather. She has Alzheimer's. Luckily she seemed to be having a great day when we say her. She seemed to remember that we were her granddaughters and even that I had a dog. She was so adorable. I hate knowing that this is probably the last time I will ever see her again.

Shortly after our visit, we headed to brunch and then a hotel coffee shop to meet with the last of our family and head to airport. I was pretty stoked to be heading home. It had only been three days but I was ready. But instead I was tortured.
First flight canceled.
Second flight missed.
Third flight delayed.
Third flight delayed again.
So we did what anyone else would do. Airport bar. I got drunk.
Eight hours later our flight finally took off.
Four hours later I was home.

massage chair slut

I took Jim for his first pedicure today. It was my treat because I knew he was skeptical. Apparently some guys think it isn't very "manly". That's stupid. Once he got in that big comfy massage chair, it was over. I think he fell in love.

It may sound crazy, but being able to get pedicures with your bf is pretty awesome. This was a first FOR ME.

*thanks brett for the perfect title to this post

G.L.W

I'm heading to Austin, TX bright and early Thursday morning with my sister for a few days to attend my beloved grandpas funeral. He was my mothers father, a wonderful grandfather. I have many fond memories of him, of summers spent at their cabin in Montana, teaching me to drive his Cadillac, diligently chopping wood and making sure there was always salt lick for the moose/deer, chasing baby bears away when they got to close to the house (once one got in the house), building fires, teaching me the best cereal is the kind where you mix a bunch of different ones together, explaining our family tree, things about rocks (i never understood), and how to justify a speeding ticket for going too slow (he received several)etc. He wore cowboy boots and a hat every single day. He always looked so put together. And he was funny.

I owe thanks a millions times over for all that he has done for me over the years. He is one of the most generous persons I have ever known. I rarely talk to this side of my family and haven't seen many of them in years. I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to this. It will be no vacation. This side of my family is nutty, as in totally crazy. I'm hoping/wishing/praying to something that I can find some fun and humor in this trip, that there will be a celebration of his life, instead of madness.

which is which

My new pill box is perfection.

monday funday

Monday is an important day of the week. It sets the tone for the next six days. This Monday went so smoothly that I'm actually excited for the week, especially considering I have Saturday and Sunday off. I killed it at work, getting tons done that I had procrastinated on for a while, got home and

went to ototo for sushi. stuffed our faces with spicy gyozas, miso, edamame, prawns, tempura and rolls
followed by fro yo at menchies
and then we came home and started a puzzle we picked up earlier in the day that will probably take us three months to finish.

good day!

Jim cooked me dinner for the first time tonight. I've been patiently awaiting this for a couple weeks. With my new found love of learning to cook and my hopefulness to have someone to cook for (cooking for one isn't as fun), I'm also always eager to share in home cooked meals made by others. I really had my fingers crossed that he would also be decent at cooking so that we could have good meals together.

So without further ado I present Jim's first meal: Spaghetti

I was impressed. And you know me, I would tell you if I didn't like it.
Jim-I'm proud of you. I can't wait for you to cook for me again.
