i have learned my lesson

What started out as a great Saturday turned into the worst day ever.

The weather forecast had being saying that Saturday was going to be the nicest day in awhile. Seventy eight degrees and the day off. Kimmy and I grabbed an early breakfast at Four Spoons, this adorable little spot in the greenwood neighborhood. It was our first time and it was perfect. My plan was to hit the beach and read all day. Instead I found myself driving to Edmonds to sunbath in the yard and let the dogs play.
A few drinks in we started acting like a bunch of kids...
and then I fell...
and broke my back(fractured it in four places leaving me bedridden for the week/out of work/bored out of my mind).

Thank you to my friends who have called me, texted me, brought me food and ice cream, cooked me breakfast and dinner, taken Charles out for me, and brought me Percosets. Oh...and a super special fuck you to Edmonds Swedish and my regular doctors office for prescribing me some weak ass Vicodins and Tramadol for my pain that have done nothing but make me constipated. You guys are a bunch of jerks.

quit-smoking

My doctor has been pushing really hard for the past few years to get me to quit smoking. I've tried cold turkey a couple times and obviously it hasn't worked.

So...
I'm taking Chantix. I picked up my prescription today. I start tomorrow morning. My last cigarette will be on the evening of July 28th.

Please please work. I don't want to be a smoker.

Dear Smoking Friends,
Please don't be offended if I stay away from you for awhile.
I'm serious.

OF NO NAIL BITING.

I've been biting since I was a little girl.
I've never in my life had nails like this.
Breaking bad habits.

Picking your nose is so much more satisfying.

let me tell you

about the worst pho experience ever.
pho at the five corners spot in edmonds.
perfect if you like:
long dirty fingernails that they add to the broth to make it taste better.
three inch long black hairs coming out of moles on your servers neck.
old eighties furniture.
disgustingly dirty windows.
a large bowl of pho has five pieces of meat and 10 noodles for $8.
fresh spring rolls that look like they're stuffed with brains.
your fried spring rolls to come out at the end of your meal, when you don't even want them anymore and are so repulsed that you can barely swallow your food.

don't believe me? look at how upset kimmy was.

jackie's concoction. we didn't take the dare.

i was still hungry when we left so i picked up a soda and candy bar next door.

now let me tell you how to make up for it.
go to Monkey Bridge (Vietnamese restaurant) in ballard.
order #36 and enjoy a good dumpling soup.
in a cute clean place.
with well groomed people.

kimmy was much happier.
and so was i.

let me kiss you

I picked up some new goodies for my lips yesterday. Yes, I went back to Nordstrom. Judge me...I don't care. MAC is cheap so I'm not feeling any guilt.

Lipstick in Ravishing
I was looking for a perfect everyday shade and I believe I've found the perfect one for me. I'm so into it that I even wore it at work today, which is rare since I don't exactly work a job I try to look good for. But wearing lipstick just makes you feel prettier. Bonus: This lipstick lasts a long time. I'm so impressed. And for only $14. I'VE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN. I think my distaste for MAC has been challenged.

Lip Liner in Chicory
This is my first time purchasing liner. I love it. It accentuates extra shape and is a great all over base. This color provides an extra kick to an already great shade of lipstick and helps it to last much longer.

finding favorites

Fall season is already approaching. Which means...the anniversary sale is here and started yesterday. So far I've only bought two items. It was so crazy downtown. It didn't allow me any room to sit down and play with all the makeup and skincare products that I wanted to look at. But thus far I'm so ecstatic about my two new purchases.

Indigo by Clarks Water Row Boot

I've had my eye on this boot for about six months. By the time I found it in store they didn't have my size and all shoe websites ran out as well. So when the sale catalog showed up at my house I almost died when I saw them...this time on sale and in leather instead of suede! I got to Nordy's around 3pm yesterday, immediately headed to the shoe department and received help. I GOT THE LAST 7 1/2!!! I wore them last night. So comfortable and just my kind of feminine. Not TOO girly and very adaptable to many styles. There's a good chance I will wear a shoe like this on a regular basis. I'm in love.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Logo Disc Studs

I never wear earrings. I can't wear anything cheap. Everything makes my little lobes so itchy. So I set out to find a basic everyday type earring that would work for my sensitive sound pieces. I found the perfect pair! I wore them last night and didn't have any problems. This must be the first time since I was fifteen. I've said goodbye to the option to buy a pair of earrings for $4 and have embraced the idea that any jewelry I wear has to be a higher quality. It's a bummer on my bank account, but I sure feel pretty. So it's worth it. I'll be throwing out my old cheap earrings that have been collecting dust in my jewelry box today.

i'm a loner...a rebel

After being lethargic for a week and a half, I finally had to take Charles to the hospital on Thursday. He had to stay overnight to be hydrated and run tests. I was thrilled to pick him up yesterday. It sounds like he was awfully mischievous while away from home.

When I showed up for pick up yesterday I found this note on one of the office doors. Apparently, he was better off being in the office with my roommate instead of in the kennel room. He barked the ENTIRE night, making sure all the other dogs barked with him. When fed he threw his food all over the kennel and laid in it, and he chewed through his fluid line that was hydrating him. My dog is a rebel. You can't contain this little guy.

The good news is that the staff seemed to think it was quite funny and didn't mind at all since he's such an adorable little guy.

Minus the one lion paw. Poor guy's gonna look silly for awhile.

misery loves company

He's so sad that Jim is gone.
And so am I.

rituals

It's a Beach House kind of morning. I'm not leaving my bed till I've had a cup of coffee and have thoroughly finished feeling sorry for myself.

birchbox

I ordered my first Birchbox yesterday. If you haven't heard of it, it's a website that features new makeup, hair, and skincare products. When you sign up for a box you pay a monthly fee and each month they send you a little box with four or five new products in it. Everything is "sample size", but it's a very generous sample.

I'm so excited for my first box to arrive next month!

Nooooooooooo

Jim's leaving me on Monday.
For weeks, and weeks, and weeks.

my local bar

The little bar next door (that Jim has become very familiar with) has the best little backyard. Last night was spent eating burgers and steak sandwiches, drinking g&t's and playing cards.

PERFECT EVENING!

4th of july

Since the minute Kalani and I moved in we had been anticipating this day. And we had good reason to. We had the most perfect view from our deck overlooking gasworks/lake union. So we had a potluck. I still have hot dogs to last until summer ends and a cooler of gross PBR still sitting in my kitchen, that will never be consumed. The night has some particularly interesting events, but for the most part I HAD FUN.

There were tons of other people here...I don't know why I stopped taking pictures. Not my strong point.
